Barclays Bank first half profits for 2009

First half profits for Barclays Bank for 2009 are £2.98 billion it has just been revealed, eight per cent higher than last years first quarter of 2008 of £2.75 billion
Success stories for Barclays include Barclays Capital the group's investment banking division.
However, less successful stories was their retail banking division were profits dropped by over half.
The investments Barclays we have made, in international businesses, are what are driving strong performance for the group in this current economic downturn.
