Zurich Insurance Suggests Self Breaking In Will Identify Security Weaknesses

Published: 06/11/08

Zurich Insurance has been questioning homeowners about security, finding that almost a third of them believe they can break into their own homes, with 10 percent of people having actually done so in the past.

Simple things such as climbing through an unlocked window or finding keys in locks make it quite easy to get in. This should act as a big warning to homeowners since if they can get in then a real thief will find to remarkably easy to gain access to the property said a Zurich Insurance spokesman.

Most homeowners have home insurance, be it buildings, contents or both. The key to keeping premiums down though, and not losing items of sentimental value, is to stop people getting in in the first place. The Zurich Insurance spokesman highlighted the fact that home security does not have to be complex. Simple things can make a big difference.
